Pasteosaurus and an Incredible Photographic Journal

15th of July, 2007

This action packed weekend involved the conservation of money and the creation of a photoblog at photos.jimwhimpey.com, bookmark, subscribe and I’ll make it worth your while. It’s in preparation for the Nikon D40 that will, with any luck, will arrive at my doorstep tomorrow. I know nothing about photography, it’ll be fun.

The other news is a gigantic Pasteosaurus update. It’s on it’s own domain now, pasteosaurus.com and it’s been completely rewritten, database class and all. Every piece of junk I wasn’t using from pastebin has been removed, including DB fields and every file has been reorganised and rewritten in cleaner, smaller and more easily read code. This means it’s now much easier for me to add features, which I’ve already done!

There’s now the ability to view all pastes and search pastes. My friend Caius is working on a TextMate command to paste highlighted code straight into Pasteosaurus while another friend, Joey is working on a dashboard widget. Friends extend friend’s web applications, remember that.

I almost didn’t release the code. I’d almost decided it was too much work and I’d just be better off taking advantage of the loophole in the GPL that allows Wordpress.com to enhance the WordPress source while not releasing it. In the end, open source won, I put in a little extra effort and the (beautiful) latest version is still available for download.
