Various Things

Here’s a few things that don’t qualify for full posts but still deserve a mention.

In a completely lame move both Digg users and Kevin Rose lay down and die. Kevin Rose wrote a post that proves he’s his user’s bitch and the gushing that follows in the Digg comment thread proves that Digg users are Kevin’s bitches. Some of the comments would more suit a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner.

So meanwhile nearly every story to do with the key has been removed from Digg without consequence - exactly what started the revolt in the first place. “As long as Kevin says he agrees with us he can do whatever he likes”. As I said, I actually agree with him taking the key down, it’s the user’s lame 180 degree turnaround that’s lame. Fake Steve Jobs, as always, nails it on the head.

Adobe releases Apollo and Microsoft releases Silverlight. Mark Pilgrim says it all. Have fun spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars to replace something that already exists for free.

Brisbane Creative gets a complete overhaul. It also gets a change to my .com.au domain, Apache and mod_rewrite made it so insanely easy to pull off seamlessly. It needed a redoing for the same reasons jimwhimpey.com needed it a month or so ago. The old one was inflexible and just kind of ugly. The new one won’t be getting on any CSS showcase websites (like the previous one did) but that’s ok, I still really dig it.

70s desktop wallpaper a feature on Brisbane Creative. I came across a brilliant website selling some wallpaper, I asked to turn them into desktop wallpaper and I did! The linked page explains it all.
